To the Departed Friend

To the Departed Friend

How I remember those days
when we two were dear friends
we were with each other always
together for any adventures on lands
ours was the friendship envied
by those full of lowly jealousy
creating bitterness in their minds
feeling their heads with fallacy

But then the time flew by
and our days too were ending
the idea of our departure, slowly
started its unwelcome hoveringl
Alas!  the unwanted day of leaving
Did arrive with its sweet sorrow
you went away on your ship sailing
leaving me with a forlorn tomorrow

I waited and waited to see you
while others felt happy and joyful
to see our deep tie broken and gone
not knowing that the inner love of WE two
Well!  You did come to me, dear friend
in a loving way to sooth my sore sight
Weren't you there, that bright land
That is seen only in the sleep of night!
